Sept 20, 2009

I love this picture from our last trip to Multnomah Falls. So now that our summer has come to an end it helps to remind me of sunnier days.

The whole family is currently sick with the flu=( It is very sad=( The hubby has had it for a week. B came down with it last night. They are both whiney. I hope they feel better soon.

B has started off the school year well and she's adjusting to the increase in work as well. Theater is going well for her as well. She mastered her test script and was assigned a large part in the final performance in November.

My hubby finished the new costume closet for them last night as well! It is a work of art. I love it. I only wish I had a 14'x14' area to have my own.

Tomorrow is Costco, school (math and health).

I will admit it has been too long.

School has begun and is now in full swing.

The closet we volunteered to build for the theater is almost complete.

We have a handfull of birthdays this next two weeks but nothing requiring us to do more than show up with a gift.

My husbands severence package will run out this month leaving us with unemployment.

I have comtemplated a job. It weighs heavily of my mind and my heart. I don't know that I can keep up with what is already required of me and a job.

I have decided to take some classes at the community college.

We are not painting the house in all of the bold colors we picked. I have decided on antique white. I cannot currently handle the chaos of the bold colors, nor the opinions of everyone. Orange is very controversial!!

B has been very quick witted lately and I have been documenting her quips on my Twitter account via my iphone. Such a wonderful tool.

I went to the doctor for the lump on the back of my head. Another cyst=( Nothing to do but wait till it is bigger and then have it removed. In 5 1/2 months it has only grown enough to be uncomfortable so I think we have awhile.

Really enjoying Saturday mornings to myself. B is at theater and hubby is helping mom. Even the dogs are quiet today.

Took the dogs to get shaved on Thursday. Fleas were to bad. They are doing much better. Problem should be solved tomorrow when I apply the advantage. Poor puppies.

Loving the Sookie Stackhouse books!! Written by Charlaine Harris. Was prereading for B. Decided she isn't ready for them but I sure like them. Nice to be reading something other than educational/ school/ self help stuff.

Thank you for reading,

Have a wonderful day!

I was surfing aimlessly the other day through hundreds of blogs, you know what I am talking about when you are reading one blog that links you to another and then another... You just can't stop. If you stop you might just miss the best thing yet. You might not find that special blog that really makes you happy. After Hours of rambling from one good place to another I landed at The Spiritual Evolution of the Bean. I was mesmerized for what seemed like hours! Here is a woman I can relate to on so many levels. Our interests and as my family likes to call them "obsessions" are so much alike. She is a "self-proclaimed art supply junkie with a predisposition towards journals and fountain pens - which I write about and review on a regular basis." Oh please!!!! I want that job!!!! It is my dream! The pens and inks and papers she discusses make me drool. I must admit though my pen collection is large it is nowhere near the calliber of pens she collects. My most expensive pens are in the $30. range so my heart stops beating to hear her details of the exquisit writing done with .5 Cursive Italic Lamy Safari fountain pen using the Poppy Red ink. I will never again be content with my $9.95 Dr. pen. My wish list has been wiped clean and began anew with the pens she describes in such glorious detail. I, already an avid journaler, paper and ink lover, mandala drawing chica have found my "Guru of all Things Wonderful"

Okay, It is a little over the top but really...she is admirable!

Miss Orange Topiary Print Purchase!!!

I am so excited! I just bought a Miss Orange Topiary Print from inside a black apple on Etsy. It is my first purchase from Etsy and it was so easy!! I love all of the artwork from Emily at inside a black apple and originally went looking for her new Black Apple Sketch/Notebook Sets but I fell in love with Miss Orange. My husband and I are preparing to paint our kitchen a very bold and controversial color of orange. It is called "Orange Marmalade" and we think it is bright and cheery. However we have had a myriad of responses to the color patch I painted over the sink last week with a sample bottle. Some say we will be all set for Halloween, others have thought it may be a joke. You see for the six years we have lived here we haven't been able to agree on colors for the main living areas so they have stayed white. I don't think our friends and family thought we would choose such a bold color pallet for the house. In all fairness several artist friends have admired the choices and even cheered us on. I seem to be getting off topic here... so easily I digress. I saw the print and realized it may be just what we need to hang in the only spot of wall large enough to hang anything at all in the room! I promise pictures when all is finally done. Needless to say though I didn't get my sketch books though as I opted for the print instead!! You should take a look, Emily has some great stuff!
As someone who has watched her mom battle 2 kinds of breast cancer, her grandma die from a 3rd fore of breast cancer, her extended families bouts with the 4th kind of breast cancer and who figures someday she too will be a breast cancer survivor this really hit home.

If I Had My Life To Live Over - Erma Bombeck.
Please take the time to read this at The Magic Onions, it could change your view of today.

Also, take the time to stop by Foursquare Schoolhouse, a wonderful blog whose author has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and could use all the support we can muster. Cancer is a daunting opponent which requires reinforcements!!
